JUNIORS
Florida Open
    Over 470 players competed in the prestigious Florida Open Championships last month. No. 9 seed Julianne Gruber finished third in the girls 18 singles after winning four matches to reach the semifinal round and then winning the playoff for third.
    Reaching the 16 doubles semifinals were No. 4 team Agatha Ambrozy and Amy Lowther and No. 2 seed Yasmin Franco and partner Brittany Lindl of Panama City.
    Amy Lowther played to the round of 16 in the girls 16s. 
Buckhorn
    Alexandra Kitchen was among the winners in this month's Buckhorn Spring Local Junior Championships. Alexandra won the girls 18. Topseed Jabilayh Asante was second in the girls 16.
Bollettieri-IMG
    Ricky Symanski defended his boys 18 top seeding in the Bollettieri-IMG Academies Local Junior Championships. Second-seed Dan Stefan was runnerup in the 14.
ADULTS
Largo Swings
    The Largo Tennis Center hosted its Swing into Summer Tournament last month offering men's singles and doubles. Winners included Marian Guta in 4.5, Robert Murzynski 4.0 and Steve Dohring 3.5.

Countryside NTRP
    More than 50 players entered this month's Summer NTRP Designated at Countryside Country Club.  Among the winners was Pamela DeNinni-Megura in 3.0. Mario Penalosa was second in the men's 3.0 and Jean Cantu won the women's 4.0 consolation.

Cheval Open
    Greg Reardon was runnerup in the men's 40-and-over singles competition in last weekend's Cheval Summer Open. Alex Deeb played to the men's 50 semifinal round.

Making a Racket
    Sixty-plus players competed in this month's inaugural Make a Racket for Kids to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay. The charity tournament raised $5,000 for the mentoring program.
In mixed doubles action, Maria Drew teamed with Robb Perry to beat Stephanie Geshel and Sean Vickery in the 4.5 final.
    In the mixed 3.5 final, Debra Gotting and Derek Mintzer defeated Cristie Cunningham and Shawn McVeigh.

    In men's doubles' competitions, winners included Rolland Miller and Mark Whitwell in 4.5, Dustin Mathews and Aaron Medvick 4.0 and Derek Mintzer and Damion Jones 3.5.
